Blood Alcohol Level
Blood alcohol level is the amount of alcohol found in a persons blood stream. Obviously, the higher the content level, the more danger a persons health is in. Most states have a blood alcohol level limit of 0.08 percent. If a person is caught with a higher level, they are at risk of serious consequences and punishments.
Understanding Alcohol
Alcohol is a substance that is known as a depressant because of the way it slows down the central nervous system. If alcohol is consumed with other depressants, such as sleeping pills or tranquilizers, the results can be serious and even deadly. Alcohol is absorbed in the stomach and small intestine, where it is then carried into the blood stream. Alcohol is actually metabolized by the liver where enzymes break it down.
Many individuals who drink large amounts of alcohol die every year of liver failure because of the harsh impact alcohol has on the liver. Because all individuals are built differently with differing heights and weights, it is vital that individuals who consume alcohol become educated on how their body will react to different levels of alcohol. Many people over estimate the amount of alcohol they think their body can handle, causing many health complications and even death.
Health Issues
There are many health issues that come with high blood alcohol levels. A drink or two for regular drinkers will make them feel relaxed and at ease and probably won’t cause much harm if the individual is accustomed to drinking. However, when individuals begin to drink more than just a few glasses, it raises a person’s blood alcohol level, causing physical and mental impairment, anger or sadness, and even unconsciousness and death.
Some individuals even risk driving motorized vehicles with elevated blood alcohol levels. This almost always has a tragic ending, either for the individual under the influence of alcohol, or for innocent passengers or bystanders. It is vital that those individuals who consume alcoholic beverages become educated and informed on the risks and dangers of operating motorized vehicles while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Legal Issues
Schools also play a large role in keeping teenagers sober and safe. Schools must dedicate assemblies and programs to teaching and informing students on the hazards and risks that are associated with drinking and driving. Schools should also have football, soccer, and other games and dances supervised and regulated by parents and teachers to keep a watchful eye out for drugs and/or alcohol
The Risks And Consequences
There are many legal issues that effect those individuals who drink alcoholic beverages and have a raised blood alcohol level. As mentioned previously, most states in America have a legal blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent; anything higher than that can result in lasting consequences and punishments, especially if the individual is caught operating a motorized vehicle. Consequences and punishments include:
Vehicle impoundment
